"Light with caramel flavours and just the right amount of carbonation ................. worryingly drinkable"
Arena Magazine, September 2005
For many years, Freedom Organic lager has been one of the brewing world’s best-kept secrets. When Freedom first set up in 1995, it was Britain’s first ever micro-brewed lager. Since then it has been quietly picking up awards for excellence and building a loyal following amongst discerning lager drinkers.
Our award winning organic lager is brewed in Abbots Bromley, Staffordshire according to strict German purity laws.
Freedom Organic can be found in the drinl's cabinet of any establishment that puts quality before quantity.
The new Freedom Pilsener has arrived. We gave a sneak preview of our sensational new beer to Ben McFarland, Britain's Beer Writer of the Year 2004/05, who quoted:-
"Freedom is a rare craft-brewed British lager that shows its big and bland rivals where they should be heading. With both style and substance, Freedom strikes a lip-smacking balance of grassy, flowery hops and sweet yet burly barley undertones to wondrous effect. Crisp, refreshing and with a lavish aftertaste, Freedom is arguably the most thirst-slaking liquid to leave the environs of Burton for quite some time."
Freedom Pilsener is the sister brew to the existing Freedom Organic. The Pilsener is brewed at our own brewery in Abbots Bromley near Burton-on-Trent.
To produce Freedom Pilsener we've re-assembled the original Freedom brewery and bought a much larger brewery set-up from the States to cope with demand. We're located on a green field site with its own supply of the famous Burton water, (acknowledged to be among the best brewing water in the world) drawn from the alabaster layer of limestone, which has attracted brewers to the Burton area for over three hundred years. This is pumped direct to our brewery from natural underground sources. We're also growing our own barley on the farmland and bottling and kegging our beer at the brewery so we can control every element of the beer we produce.
To perfect the recipe, we tracked down Master Brewer Ian Ward, who developed the original Freedom Lager back in '95, when it was the first micro-brewed lager in Britain.
Freedom LargerThis superb beer is technically an ale, made with crystal malt which gives the beer a dark red colour. The perfect blend of 3 hops creates a beer with a multi-layered taste of hidden sweetness and dark toffee.
Delicious Magazine said that Soho Red :-
"Delectably straddles the gap between ale and lager."
